More information about the training

1. Objective

The “standard route” to become an intacs® certified Provisional Assessor Automotive SPICE® is to first become an intacs® certified Process Expert Automotive SPICE®. The focus is on interpreting Automotive SPICE® processes, which you need to carry out assessments and implement process improvements in system and software engineering.

The second step is then training to become an intacs® certified Provisional Assessor Automotive SPICE®, the valuable knowledge and advice to support a certified Competent Assessor as a co-assessor with assessments in their own company or with suppliers or to optimize processes based on assessment results.

The aim of this combined training (also known as “Combined Lane”) is to complete both training courses in one go and thus become an intacs® -certified Provisional Assessor Automotive SPICE® faster. The requirements for both certifications are requirements for both certifications are the same, therefore, in addition to participating in the two participants, participants receive several homework assignments, which they must present in the second part of the training. Active participation in the entire training is the key to success.

The participants learn to correctly interpret Automotive SPICE® and understand the connections. Under the supervision of a lead assessor, you will be able to analyse and evaluate processes and to formulate potential for improving the processes. You will be perfectly prepared for the exam, which is necessary for certification as a co-assessor.

We show how to prepare, carry out and follow up an assessment, focusing specifically on the role of the co-assessor. A process for carrying out assessments is presented. Using templates and examples, we will show you how the work results can be created. We practice the methodology repeatedly in written exercises and role-playing games. We present the methods for data collection. Both the techniques for surveys and notes as well as the examination of documents relevant to an assessment are developed. This training is mostly practical. We conduct many exercises and discussions to enable participants to apply the new knowledge to their own work environment. We carry out several practice exams to perfectly prepare participants for the exam.

3. Target group

- People who are planning to become certified assessors (Note: The intacs® certified Provisional Assessor Automotive SPICE® certification is a prerequisite for the next step to become an intacs® certified Competent Assessor Automotive SPICE®).

- Quality and project team members who must ensure that the requirements of the Automotive SPICE® process assessment model are met in the project

- Process owners and members of process improvement teams who must ensure that the Automotive SPICE® requirements are covered by the organization

4. Added value after training

The co-assessor takes part in Automotive SPICE® assessments and gains valuable experience in the process. The assessments can be internal or external. Based on the experience gained, the co-assessor derives solutions and motivates the team to benefit from Automotive SPICE®. It helps to define clear responsibilities and to design processes effectively. The assessor helps the team to carry out each work package correctly the first time — based on qualified inputs and the generation of the correct results, including the required audit evidence.

3. Online training login

The trainer will email the online invitations with the access data to the participants at least one week before the start.

4. Training

5. Exam (optional)

We offer an open-book exam on the last day, which is conducted online as a dual-choice exam by an external company.

6. Certificates

After the training, the trainer emails the participation certificate. The company that conducts the exam emails the test results directly to the participants.

7. Follow-up

4-6 weeks later, participants and trainers meet again online and report and discuss the implementation successes.

The exam process

The test is carried out by the VDA-QMC.

You will be registered for the exam even before the training. Late registrations during training are still possible in some cases.

During the training, you will be optimally prepared for the exam: comprehensible theory, illustrative practical examples, in-depth exercises and, last but not least, test exams.

The exam is conducted as an online exam; you need a stable Internet connection and a webcam with microphone to take part. Please ensure that you have the technical infrastructure for the exam well in advance of the examination date. We use two applications, Zoom and Socrative. You will receive an invitation from us to a Zoom session and the login details for Socrative during the exam meeting. The current examination languages are English, German and Japanese.

The exams are carried out as a dual choice. You will be shown short statements, which you should answer correctly with “true” or “false”. You pass the exam with at least 75% correct answers.

The examination consists of around 15 statements per training day, i.e. 60 statements during a 4-day seminar, for example. The duration of the test in minutes is calculated from 1 minute per statement/question plus a flat rate of 15 minutes (for example 75 minutes for a 4-day training session). If you are not a native speaker in at least one of the exam languages and have difficulty understanding the exam language, you will be given 1/3 more exam time upon request (for example, a further 25 minutes and therefore a total of 100 minutes instead of 75 minutes for a 4-day training session).

Participants may not copy or distribute the exam content in any way. This includes taking photos, screenshots, and other electronic or written copies of the exam questions.

The participants must take the exam alone. Chatting and electronic devices are not allowed, except for the computer/laptop required for the exam. Email, messaging, etc. are not allowed. Please refrain from speaking during the exam so as not to disturb other participants.

The tests are carried out as an open book. You may use all written (including digital) training materials and notes.

The company that conducts the exam emails the test results directly to the participants. This usually happens after 2-4 working days.
