More information about the training
1. Objective
This training provides the additional qualification of Mechanical Engineering SPICE and is based on the Automotive SPICE® v4.0 process evaluation model. The training enables participants to map their existing mechanical engineering processes in a SPICE environment, connect the dots with the supporting processes and create an understanding of what needs to be provided at system level and how to interact with prototype production.
For assessors and quality professionals, this extension of the aSPICE model enables an appropriate evaluation of integrated product development. Errors or missed opportunities from ME development are no longer addressed in a later phase of system integration. The ME product to be published no longer appears out of nowhere.
You will be perfectly prepared for the final exam.
2. Content
The content of this training is based on the curriculum published by intacs®. The training material has been tested and approved by intacs®. We work out the most important ideas and concepts and look at the practices of mechanical engineering processes. We explain the connections and internal dependencies.
We look at the Mechanical-Development along the V-model and show how the system level is integrated. Participants learn how to connect to management and supporting processes.
We show what motivates and achieves companies when they also look at Mechanical Engineering Set up SPICE. We work out the most important ideas and concepts and look at the practices of Mechanical Engineering SPICE processes. We explain the connections and internal dependencies.
This training is mostly practical. We conduct many exercises and discussions to enable participants to apply the new knowledge to their own work environment. We conduct several practice exams to perfectly prepare participants for the exam.
VDA will conduct an open-book exam on the afternoon of the last training day. There are 30 statements to be rated as “true” or “false.” 22 answers must be correct to pass.
3. Target group
- People who plan to carry out assessments using the Mechanical Engineering processes of Automotive SPICE® PAM 4.0
- People who are tasked with improving or monitoring development processes including mechanical engineering aspects
4. Added value after training
The results of the system integration process are no longer evaluated without a connection to physical product development.
Samples for system testing will no longer appear out of nowhere.
Product approval is being assessed in its full complexity, just as risk management finally includes FMEA and other artifacts that have previously been addressed outside the ASPICE framework.
The training process
1. Online registration / request
You sign up for a training session online and choose from the various payment options. After completing the registration, you will receive an invoice by email.
On request, you will receive an offer that you or your employer can simply order.
2. Payment
We accept the following payment options: PayPal, credit card, invoice
3. Online training login
The trainer will email the online invitations with the access data to the participants at least one week before the start.
4. Training
With practical examples and lots of interaction, we work together to develop the content and understanding and deepen the application. This will make you fit for the exam (optional) and help you master the implementation in your day-to-day work.
5. Exam (optional)
We offer an open-book exam on the last day, which is conducted online as a dual-choice exam by an external company.
6. Certificates
After the training, the trainer emails the participation certificate. The company that conducts the exam emails the test results directly to the participants.
7. Follow-up
4-6 weeks later, participants and trainers meet again online and report and discuss the implementation successes.
The exam process
The audit is carried out by ECQA.
You will be registered for the exam even before the training. Late registrations during training are still possible in some cases.
During the training, you will be optimally prepared for the exam: comprehensible theory, illustrative practical examples, in-depth exercises and, last but not least, test exams.
The exam is conducted as an online exam; you need a stable Internet connection and a webcam with microphone to take part. Please ensure that you have the technical infrastructure for the exam well in advance of the examination date. We use two applications, Zoom and Socrative. You will receive an invitation from us to a Zoom session and the login details for Socrative during the exam meeting. The current examination languages are English, German and Japanese.
The exams are carried out as a dual choice. You will be shown short statements, which you should answer correctly with “true” or “false”. You pass the exam with at least 75% correct answers.
The examination consists of around 15 statements per training day, i.e. 60 statements during a 4-day seminar, for example. The duration of the test in minutes is calculated from 1 minute per statement/question plus a flat rate of 15 minutes (for example 75 minutes for a 4-day training session). If you are not a native speaker in at least one of the exam languages and have difficulty understanding the exam language, you will be given 1/3 more exam time upon request (for example, a further 25 minutes and therefore a total of 100 minutes instead of 75 minutes for a 4-day training session).
Participants may not copy or distribute the exam content in any way. This includes taking photos, screenshots, and other electronic or written copies of the exam questions.
The participants must take the exam alone. Chatting and electronic devices are not allowed, except for the computer/laptop required for the exam. Email, messaging, etc. are not allowed. Please refrain from speaking during the exam so as not to disturb other participants.
The tests are carried out as an open book. You may use all written (including digital) training materials and notes.
The company that conducts the exam emails the test results directly to the participants. This usually happens after 2-4 working days.
